About our Trustees

Craig Williams

Hi! I’m Craig and I joined Port Talbot Harriers in 2017. I was elected as a Trustee in 2020. For the past 2 years I have acted as Club Secretary and I am delighted to be moving into my new position as Club Chairperson. My responsibilities include organising the Trustee meetings, sourcing club partners, listening to member’s queries and questions and putting them forward for discussion at Trustees meetings. Together with the other Trustees, we then set the strategy of the club to keep it current and sustainable for another 100 years.

James Lowery

Hi! I am James and I first joined the club in May 2018. I was elected as a Trustee in August 2022. During my time as a Trustee, I have been Head of Communications and Social Media. Working with the Social Media Team we keep an eye on all things Port Talbot Harriers and share the successes our members achieve. Along with continuing my work as Head of Communications and Social Media, I am absolutely honoured to become the new Secretary of the club. This is a huge honour and I am looking forward to helping drive the club forward and taking it from strength to strength.

Liane Thomas

Hi! I am Liane and I have been a member of Port Talbot Harriers since 2016. I was elected to the Trustees in 2017. During my time within the club, I have held multiple different roles including Club Secretary. Currently, I am the Membership Secretary and manage the club’s annual membership renewal process. You may not see my face much at training due to juggling a young family and having a husband who signs himself up to lots of triathlons, but feel free to email me anytime.

David Kingsland

Hi! I am David and I have been a member of Port Talbot Harriers since 2015. I was elected as a Trustee in 2015. My role within the club is finance. John Davies

During my time at the club I have held positions such as Treasurer, Co-Founder of the club championships and Team Manager to name but a few. I was elected as a Trustee in 2021 and my current role within the club is Club President, Club Historian and official time keeper with Welsh Athletics.

Bernard Henderson

Hi! I am Bernie. I have been a member of Port Talbot Harriers since 2008 and was elected as a Trustee in 2012. For the past 12 years, I have had the honour of being Chairperson of Port Talbot Harriers, but as I step down, I take on a new role within the club as our Welsh Athletics registration officer. I will also be assisting Liane with ensuring the members who selected Welsh Athletics membership are registered with the governing body.

Sarah Howard

Hi! I’m Sarah. I’m currently Vice Captain for the women as well as Trustee. I’ve was elected a Trustee in 2016 and again in November 2022. I am part of the Social Media Team within the club. I joined Port Talbot Harriers in around June 2016, I ran 2 marathons then took a break in 2018 for 2 years after falling out of love for the sport. I re-joined Port Talbot Harriers in March 2020 and this is where my running journey restarted with the support of the coaches and members! I have run many marathons in my running journey thus far. Distance and endurance is definitely my thing. Port Talbot Harriers are a family, not just an athletics club! My passion for this club is immense and I’ve watched this club grow into the second biggest athletics club in South Wales, that for which I am proud to be VC and a Trustee of. I can’t wait to watch this club grow and support the members along the way. I have also recently become a Running Coach and am very keen to help advise and develop our fantastic athletes using the knowledge I have gained through my many years of running.

During my time at the club I have been Women’s Vice Team Captain and in 2021 was voted Women’s Club Captain. I love seeing our women go from strength to strength, pushing boundaries and achieving their goals. A personal highlight for me in my time as Captain, has been to pilot and produce the first ever Port Talbot Harriers Women’s Team to run at the Welsh Castles Relay. I am delighted to be carrying on this role into the next calendar year and hope to keep inspiring and help grow the number of women in sport. I am also Head of Partnership Relations, meaning I help to maintain a working relationship with our club partners.
